You do not want to share your food with this pest.
For every dropping you find, it has also done a microscopic wee.
The mouse carries loads of diseases that can be transmitted to man.
A mouse in a food premises could lead to closure of that business.

Appearance

  1. 7 – 9.5cm in length, with a tail around the same length.
  2. 12 – 30g in weight.
  3. Their relatively small feet & head and large eyes & ears distinguish them from a young brown rat (Rattus norvegicus).

Lifecycle

  1. 4 – 16 young per litter; 7 – 8 litters a year.
  2. Gestation period of about 3 weeks.
  3. 8 – 12 weeks from birth to sexual maturity.

Habits

  1. Usually ground living and burrowing, but often climbs.
  2. Preferred food is cereals.
  3. Will eat around 3g of food a day and can survive without any additional water. They will drink up to 3ml a day if their diet is particularly dry.
